Psychotherapy - Mental Wellness at Home: Why Choose Us?
COMPASSION
There is often emotional, physical and financial stress associated with using home health care is known to us. Our clinical professionals, home health aides and office staff are fully aware that you need your questions answered and your medical needs attended to. They also know it’s important to do so in a manner that makes you comfortable and helps you or your loved one live the best life possible.
UNDERSTANDING
We understand that you and your loved ones live in the real world, dealing with all of life’s ups and downs. We understand when your parents want to live in their own home but you can’t be with them all the time. We understand when your wife will need help getting around, bathing and taking care of her wounds after she leaves the hospital. We understand when your father is cranky because he needs to give up his favorite foods, now that he’s been diagnosed with heart failure and diabetes. No matter your situation, we understand how to provide the highest quality home health care when, where and how you need it.
AVAILABILITY, 24/7
Whether you have planned in advance for home health care or face a crisis and need an immediate solution, we are always available to you in anytime when you need us, where you need us. Our staff can be reached all day and night, all week, every day of the year, including holidays. And we have the resources to provide you with care, no matter what. For example, if your nurse is sick, you won’t go without the services you require—we can send in a back-up at a moment’s notice.
SERVICES
Too often, home health care is misunderstood as being just for older people. We do offer more senior care services than any other home health care organization in KOLKATA—but Vision Homecare provides much more. We have services for pregnant women and their newborns, for children suffering from chronic illnesses and for adults of any age recovering from surgery. We provide skilled nursing care, rehabilitation therapy (physical, occupational and speech therapy), mental health counseling and, at the end of life, hospice and bereavement services.

FAQs On ElderCare at Home
Psychiatrists are medical doctors, psychologists are not. Psychiatrists prescribe medication, psychologists can’t. Psychiatrists diagnose illness, manage treatment and provide a range of therapies for complex and serious mental illness. Psychologists focus on providing psychotherapy (talk therapy) to help patients.
Yes psychotherapy works great on anxiety. A sort of psychotherapy referred to as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is very effective at treating anxiety disorders. By learning to vary those thought patterns, they will reduce the likelihood and intensity of hysteria symptoms.
In fact, sometimes therapy can be harmful. Research shows that, on average, approximately 10 per cent of clients actually get worse after starting therapy. Yet belief in the unconsciousness of psychotherapy remains determined and widespread.
Psychotherapy clearly works with different people in many different settings. Research shows that psychotherapy for depression is at least as effective as antidepressant medications during the treatment period and more effective in preventing a return of the symptoms after the treatment is stopped.
To understand the evidence supporting them as important therapeutic elements, the contextual model of psychotherapy is outlined. Then the evidence, primarily from meta-analyses, is presented for particular common factors, including alliance, empathy, expectations, cultural adaptation, and therapist differences.
A physical exam. Your doctor will try to rule out physical problems that could cause your symptoms.
Lab tests.
These may include, for example, a check of your thyroid function or a screening for alcohol and drugs.
A psychological evaluation.
Therapy can last anywhere from one session to several months or even years. It all depends on what you want and need. Some people come to therapy with a very specific problem they need to solve and might find that one or two sessions is sufficient.
Although the terms counseling and therapy are often used interchangeably, there is a difference between psychotherapy and psychological counseling. Counseling is also usually more short-term than therapy. Psychotherapy is more long-term than counseling and focuses on a broader range of issues.
Fifty percent. It’s true. Even in studies where carefully selected therapists who receive copious amounts of training, support, and supervision, and treat clients with a single diagnosis or problem, between 5 and 10% get worse and 35-40% experience no benefit whatsoever! That’s half, or more.
They can diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe and monitor medications and provide therapy. Some have completed additional training in child and adolescent mental health, substance use disorders or geriatric psychiatry.
