surrogacy process

The surrogacy process is a means approved by a legal agreement, whereby a woman often termed as the surrogate mother gives childbirth for another person who will become the parent(s) of the issue. People opt for surrogacy for circumstances such as:

Impossible Pregnancy
Risky Pregnancy
Single parent
Gay couple

Who can be a surrogate mother?

You can be a surrogate mother, even if you have not become a mother already. There is no such barrier for becoming a surrogate mother. You can be a surrogate up to four times if you’ve had just one child of your own. Except if you already hold four children when you sign on as a surrogate, then you can be a surrogate only once. If you’ve been pregnant five times already, then surrogacy is not granted for you.

Surrogacy Process and its Types

There are two varieties of surrogacy which are traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy.

In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate mother is artificially inseminated, either by the intended father or an unknown donor.

In gestational surrogacy, an egg is excluded from the intended mother or an anonymous donor and fertilized with the sperm of the intended father or anonymous donor.

The fertilized egg, or embryo, is then assigned to a surrogate who bears the baby to term.

How does the Surrogacy Process Work?

Once contracts have been signed, it is time to begin medical procedures in a fertility clinic to prepare for the embryo transfer. Preparing the surrogate’s body to get pregnant takes about one month and follows a natural cycle of 30 days.

The proposed mother or egg donor will be provided with medication to help her develop-eggs and will undergo an egg retrieval method. The eggs are then fertilized in the laboratory to create an embryo, which will be transferred to the surrogate. The surrogate will undergo fertility treatments earlier to the embryo transfer and throughout the pregnancy.

To increase the chances of a successful embryo transfer, you will likely be prescribed fertility medications prior to the transfer of fertilized egg in the uterus. If the mother’s egg is utilized to implant in a surrogate mother then she will be given medications to incite egg generation. Once collected, they will be fertilized using sperm from the meant father or a donor.

After the embryo transfer, the pregnancy will be authorized. When a healthy heartbeat is detected a couple of months later, the surrogate will start accepting payments for support payment and monthly allowance. Lastly, after delivery, you can bring the baby home and raise the baby with all your love and support.

How much does Surrogacy Cost in India?

The legality and cost of surrogacy vary widely between jurisdictions, sometimes resulting in problematic international or interstate surrogacy arrangements. You can even carry your family member or friend’s baby but cannot be the child’s legal mother. So, you won’t have any trouble having a legal relationship with the child you bear.

In India, the average cost of surrogacy medication varies between 10,05,400 rupees and 16,38,500 rupees. It includes diagnostics, medication, disposables, surrogate mother and normal delivery.

These additional fees make surrogacy significantly more expensive than adoption. In addition, there may be lesser financing alternatives available in surrogacy. There is no federal tax credit for surrogacy like there is in for adoption.

Surrogacy is considered as one of the most assisted reproductive technologies. Whether you consider building your own or helping someone else build theirs, surrogacy can be an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling experience.
